Background

Last year GREAT Nepal in close coordination with Integrated Technology Development, Nepal installed Mechanized Bridge over Seti River at Kotre Punditar, Tanahun for river crossing. Mechanized Bridge can help the poor rural people in improving their access to basic service like education, health, market etc. The system although helpful especially to improving access of the isolated group living in rural areas and ignored by the government and other bilateral support organizations.

The Mechanized Bridge installed and demonstrated by GRID Nepal in close coordination with ITD Nepal is to certain degree successful in providing transport services. People are using the system for human as well as human as well as goods transport.

This Proposal is developed with the close coordination among Pawai Deusa Dudhkoshi  community, District Development committee of Solukhumbui District and GREAT Nepal in close coordination with GRID Nepal.  After agreement signed, the survey team of GREAT Nepal will visit most promising of selected potential sites at Pawai Deusa Dudhkoshi area and will be surveyed with the Total station which is the most sophisticated equipment. During the visit, the economical, engineering and financial studies required for the need assessment of the mechanized bridge will be consider. We will also acquainted local people with the merits of this technology and benefits that they can get from it and we clearly reached the conclusion that the mechanized bridge will play an important role in community, health education and other socio-economic activities of marginalized people of this region. Not only this, it would be the linkage and junction point for the community follow up to the Solukhumbu District. Hence GREAT Nepal in close coordination with GRID Nepal and ITD Nepal will help in the technological sector and GRID Nepal in association with Wise Use House Network would try to link up this needy demand of Mechanized Bridge up to the donor institutions.
